The United Kingdom will host the Women’s World Cup for the first time in 2035 after a rival offer in Spain, Portugal and Morocco has abandoned.
The English football association has joined Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in auction for the tournament. England should have the most supply sites at four nations, with the Wembley stadium assigned as the place of the final.
The four nations have already united their forces to welcome Euro 2028, while England welcomed and won the female European championships in 2022.
The United Kingdom has become the only offer after the uncertainty that surrounded if the three-nations coalition in Spain, Portugal and Morocco had respected the deadline for FIFA on Monday for expressions of interest.
The president of the Spanish FA (RFEF), Rafael Louzan, said that his association “ worked on a joint offer with countries that should also co-host the 2030 male World Cup.
Only European or Africa countries could bid for the tournament due to the Ruration of FIFA rotation rules. Brazil will host the 2027 World Cup while the United States, which has withdrawn from the tender process for this tournament, is the favorite to be accommodated for 2031.
During the launch of the United Kingdom’s offer at the beginning of the month, the Director General of the FA said that the success of the European championship in 2022 had proven the ability of the United Kingdom to stage the World Cup.
“Organizing the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2035 would be an honor,” he said.
“We firmly believe that we could organize a fantastic tournament, based on the success of the UEFA female Euro in 2022 and the subsequent rapid growth of the female game in England.
“We are delighted with the opportunity to welcome the world and to host participating nations and fans in closed counters.
“There is exceptional support for the female game in this country and we want to maximize this, not only for women’s football and girls here, but also for the benefit of the world game.”
Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed that the government had argued the plans to bid for the tournament which, according to him, could be a “monumental moment in our sports history”.

The European women’s championships in 2022 have marked the second time that England organized the continental tournament after 2005, but a women’s World Cup has not yet taken place in the United Kingdom.
England has already used twice to accommodate the male World Cup for the second time after 1966, but failed in the application process for 2006 and 2018 tournaments.
