The British army found Russian sensors in seas across the country which, according to them, tried to spy on its nuclear submarines, the Sunday Times reported.
The Royal Navy found devices planted on the sea bed while several washed on the ground, the newspaper reported.
Military and intelligence leaders believe that they have been planted to collect information on the four British submarines that carry nuclear missiles.
“There should be no doubt, there is a war that rages in the Atlantic. It is a cat and mouse game that has continued since the end of the Cold War, and heats up now,” a senior British military figure.
The newspaper’s three -month investigation said that she had discovered unmanned Russian vehicles “hidden next to the deep communication cables”.
The government also had “credible information” that Russian superyachts belonging to oligarchs may have been used to carry out underwater recognition, the report said.
