“Musicians are entitled to freedom of expression, and we are united with all our members,” wrote the American musicians federation
The American Federation of Musicians (AFM) stands next to its artists. Friday, the union published a declaration defending Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen after Donald Trump attacked the two stars on social networks.
“(We) will not remain silent because two of our members – Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift – are distinguished and personally attacked by the President of the United States,” read the declaration of the president of AFM, Tino Gagliardi. “Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift are not only brilliant musicians, they are models and inspirations for millions of people in the United States and around the world.”
The declaration praised the stars of their “timeless” music with “a deep cultural meaning”, signaling the note: “musicians have the right to freedom of expression, and we are in solidarity with all our members.”
The declaration comes after the president shared several articles on Truth Social Friday, denouncing the stars, “he noticed that, since I said” I hate Taylor Swift “, she is no longer” hot “”, the message was in reference to an article he shared in September from last year against the international pop star which expressed his disagreement with the policies of potus on several occasions.
As for Springsteen, Trump decided to share that he “never liked” the music of the boss and called him “stupid like a rock”, after the music icon described the president as “incompetent and betrayal” during his kick -off of the European tour. “He’s not a talented guy – just an arrogant and unpleasant shock, who fervently has Croooked Joe Biden,” said Trump.
Springsteen has, of course, criticized Trump many times on American soil. In a 2016 interview with RollerSpringsteen called him a “moron”, and during a campaign rally in 2024 for Kamala Harris, he called Trump as “American tyrant”.
