In the style of WWE House, there are many archetypes, but nothing is more tested – or, in some cases, tired and false – than the main event of epic WWE. As the proverb says, you know when you see it, but the main epic event is easy enough to decompose in its components. An EME will have many cinematographic spots, generally involving weapons or the environment around the ring – the paintings being the main one, but often the areas of the crowd also come into play. It will be a little slower, for one of the two reasons, with the choice between the two according to the generous you want to be. Either the EME will be slow to build the drama until it bubbles, or it will be slow because the wrestlers of the main WWE event are generally more methodical. Most relevant for Wrestlemania 41The main double events are that these matches are generally overwhelmed by external interference and mechanisms that go beyond the simple foundation of the struggle, in which a wrestling match can be summed up with certain artists who fight each other to prove who is the best. The main epic event exists due to the longtime suspicion of WWE that this was not enough.
In this spirit, the main respective events of the two -night marathon which was Wrestlemania 41 were predictable both in this main style of WWE. Together, they do a rather neat work to encapsulate the good and the very bad of what this style can bring. If the Night 2 event last year was WWE to its most perverse excessive, this year’s show offered two other measured melodrama spoons which fell easily when they worked, and crushed and burned almost incredibly hard when they did not do it.
Let’s start with night 1, which was by far both the higher match and the superior show. Despite Wrestlemania The main events almost always involving one of the main titles of the company – generally the male world championship, although a few occasions, the women obtained this slit, and once, two years ago, the division of the label team obtained its due – this year, the Capper on Saturday evening was weak on the stakes and the tops in theater. It was a triple threat match between novel Reigns, Seth Rollins and, in his first Wrestlemania Main event of all time, CM Punk. This last aspect played a big role in history and the presentation of the match; While Reigns and Rollins obtained typical big game entries, punk, the interpreter often irritating but almost just as transcendent who returned to WWE in 2023 after almost a decade, received a video package, has incredibly adjusted her former theme song “This Fire” from Killswitch, recaping his journey to the main event. He was then played in the Ring live by Living Color, who provides his current theme song, “Cult of Personality”. (Living Color Rocks and swayed on Saturday; it is almost impossible to ring well as a live musical performance during a wrestling show, given the terrible acoustics, but they seemed as good as anyone could have hoped for it.)
Once the match started, it has become a triple WWE style threat (there is another archetype of match for you). This meant a lot of fights outside the ring and the spots that involved a wrestler removed long enough for the other two to have an individual mini affair. There was not one, but two table spots. The scenario was rightly convoluted: Reigns and Rollins had a decade of history who argued behind them while the former comrades who had become fatal enemies, and Reigns and Punk argued the management services of Paul Heyman, perhaps the greatest non-Whe-Wrestler character in the history of WWE.
These two scenarios took place during the match with the expertise and gravity that only a business with such a loaded history can deploy. The finish also woven them together: Heyman for the first time has a chair to use on Reigns before hitting him with a low blow to the little Brooks of Phil. Heyman then gave the chair to Reigns to strike Rollins, only to strike another Bas -coup – They were very funny, and Heyman’s hand stuck in the regions of Reigns of Reigns – and next to Rollins, who won the victory. Although it may be disappointing that a match between three very talented and very talented wrestlers comes down to interference, this corresponded to what WWE was trying to accomplish. Heyman is an integral part not only of the construction of this match, but careers of punk and reigns, and he was therefore less an external interference agent and more another player in a longtime tragicomedy. His betrayals were woven in the bases of the match, and that would not have worked without him.
It cannot be said as many Travis Scott, who played the role of external interference in the DUD of Night 2 of an epic main event. This match was supposed to be a big problem. Cody Rhodes, the winner of last year’s main event and the best guy in the company after years reaching the mountain top, has entered as world champion, with, for any reason, Dirtbikes and a golden golden skull mask as part of his entry. On the other hand, John Cena, the wrestler who most embodies the post-boom period of WWE, in what he had announced would be his last year as WWE wrestler, which did his last Wrestlemania correspond. Cena also entered, for the first time, like a heel; He had cemented his poor quality status by attacking Rhodes in Mars Elimination room. Cena’s own entrance was rightly antagonistic; No more bright colors and the joyful behavior that had defined it over the years, and in their place was a black and white pattern and a splendor of steel and nothing else when he was heading towards the ring.
This is where the problems with this main event began. Cena is an old professional pro, and he therefore refined his style to be less user -friendly, avoiding his famous moving sequences in favor of a little slow and a glory of “heel heat”. He beat Rhodes methodically, a story as old as time in the fight; Quite old, certainly, that the fans were ready to expect a possible return from the Babyface champion. It is a familiar formula, but not so fun to watch, and the crowd did not play well. It is simply too easy to ironically rejoice Cena when he denies fans what they want, and that’s exactly what the crowd of vegas has done. However, however, while a heel heat section can make the matches uncomfortably long, the possible gain can be worth it. It never came. The fans have rather traces Scott.
A quick explanation is in order: when Cena turned on Rhodes to Elimination roomScott was also there with The Rock, who was the catalyst for Cena’s Heal Turn. (The hilarious rock did not appear on Sunday evening, despite all this story centered around its inclusion.) Scott joined a beat of Rhodes, but as he is not a formed wrestler, he fucked, slapming Rhodes too strong in the head and rupture of his eardrum. WWE leaned on Sunday, making Scott Scott to upset Rhodes once again, first removing the referee during an attempted fall, then entering the ring and in the face of Rhodes. His inclusion was summed up very little, but did just enough damage to embrace the whole event. Scott took the finisher of Rhodes and distracted Rhodes for a long time for Cena to reach the third low blow of the main events of the weekend, leading to a belt to the head and to the victory of the comfort of the record victory for Cena. With the victory, her 17th, Cena officially has more world title reigns than any wrestler in WWE history, going beyond Ric Flair.
Here is the problem: while Paul Heyman was an integrated part of the scenario of the main event of Night 1 and an emblematic wrestling artist in its own right, Travis Scott felt added to the cornerstone of Night 2, and is Travis Scott. The artificiality of the struggle is at the heart of the broader attraction, but it is also something with which to pay attention; Distorting it to obtain a rapper, which is very popular in the series, was reckless, and as the act of promotion in search of the type of viral moment which could extend its considerable scope. Thought says that someone who would not generally look Wrestlemania Could have been silent to see Travis Scott. It is the same reasoning that saw Logan Paul not only become a WWE wrestler, but someone who can win a Wrestlemania Match against an industry veteran like AJ Styles, which occurred earlier on Sunday. It could even be a solid financial thought on the part of the promotion; In a world where entertainment continues to become more fractured, moments of crossing can perceive this gap. But it also goes against things that have done Wrestlemania A tent show even for the kind of deferred fans who only check once a year.
In this way, the main event of Night 2 was a more appropriate conclusion for a WWE show than at night 1. Night 1 was a question of excellence in autonomous struggle, a Kayfabe-Way exhibition between three massive wrestling stars which both concluded a saga of several months and indices in a new scenario in creation. At night 2, however, concerned the meta-idea of ”doing a moment”. Cena is the largest star in WWE can trot, at least when the rock refuses to appear; Again, it’s very funny and very on the brand for The Rock, which could be the most selfish interpreter in WWE history, give or take a hulk hogan. And Travis Scott getting hit with a finisher is the type of clip that WWE will replay ad infinitum as proof of freshness and hip (and dominant current). Is it important for the company that she sacrificed a kind of coherent narration and quality of correspondence in the search for big titles like “the surprise appearance of Wrestlemania surprise by Travis Scott left everyone speechless”? Apparently not.
It is a shame, however, that the final of John Cena Wrestlemania The match and his long -awaited victory of the title were sacrificed to the worst WWE pulses. Given the quality of the surreated chaos of last year and the Night 1 melodrama of this year, it is clear that WWE always has the quick ball when it comes to its own style. But it was a huge round, and for what? Maybe it’s silly to make this work on a disappointing Wrestlemania Match, or any period of wrestling match, but there is also a special level of disappointment that accompanies the final of the season, and it was one of the worst examples to sacrifice the biggest match niche of the year in favor of a nebulous sense of immortality. The sustainable image of Wrestlemania 41 should have been cena lifting the belt, and it was. But the company simply could not help itself, and therefore Travis Scott is also there, a living recall that the real struggle, in its narration and its quirks of characters and its strange forces, is never less important than in the biggest match of the year.
