Israeli defense forces targeted a terrorist in Hamas in southern Syria in a drone strike on Sunday, the army said.
The strike occurred in the Mazraat Beit Jinn region, east of Mount Hermon and just beyond the enlarged buffer zone held by Israel.
On June 3, terrorists from southern Syria pulled two rockets on the Golan Heights Israeli. The two projectiles struck open areas in the south of the Golan, causing any injury or damage, according to the FDI. It was Syria’s first rocket attack since May 2024.
Israeli officials have held the new Syrian government under President Ahmed Al-Sharaa responsible. The FDIs responded by drawing artillery on the launch site and deploying fighter planes to attack weapons systems in the Syrian regime in southern Syria.
The Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned Al-Sharaa that Israel “would not allow the return to reality of October 7” and that “complete response will come soon” if the attacks would continue.

On May 7, Al-Sharaa said that his government was engaged in indirect talks with Jerusalem targeting demorative Tensions between the two countries, following a series of Israeli air strikes following the eviction of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Al-Sharaa was a leading figure in Al-Qaeda before founding Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS), which led the reversal of the Assad diet.
