The Trump administration revokes the conditional liberation of the Mexican girl receiving window care, says the lawyer

LOS Angeles (AP) – The Trump administration revoked the authorization of a 4 -year -old Mexican girl who receives vital medical care from a Californian hospital to stay in the country, family lawyers said on Wednesday.

Lawyer Gina Amato said that the girl’s mother was informed that the US government withdrew the humanitarian parole that the family received in 2023 when she brought her sick child to the American-Mexican border. She received notifications in April and May and was informed that the family was subject to potential expulsion, said Amato.

Since then, the girl has left the hospital thanks to a treatment that provides intravenous nutrition through a backpack it carries. The lawyers said that she was not strong enough to survive without her because she suffers from a short intestine syndrome, which prevents her from being able to take and treat nutrients by herself, and the treatment she receives is not available in Mexico.

“The doctors were clear that she will die in a few days” without this care, “said Amato at a press conference in Los Angeles. “The expulsion of this family under these conditions is not only illegal, it constitutes a moral failure which violates the basic principles of humanity and decency.”

Lawyers did not provide the real name of the girl to protect her privacy.

The American citizenship and immigration services did not immediately comment.

A senior internal security official, in an email sent from an address for media information requests, said the family was not actively expelled and that a more recent conditional release request that had been filed two weeks ago is still underway.

The Trump administration prompted dismantle President Joe Biden’s administration policies that allowed people to live legally in the United States, generally for two years.

Humanitarian conditional releasewhich does not put migrants on the path of American citizenship, was widely used during the Biden administration To alleviate pressure on the south-mexic border. It has already been used on a case -by -case basis to deal with individual emergencies and also for people fleeing humanitarian crises around the world, including Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos in the late 1970s.

In Mexico, the daughter was widely confined to a hospital because of her state of health, her mother Deysi Vargas told the journalist. Once the family arrived at the border, US officials had the child take to San Diego hospital, where they stayed until they were well enough to join a program for the Los Angeles children’s hospital which allows her to receive treatment at home in Bakersfield, California, Vargas said.

Now she likes to go to the park and the supermarket – and especially living outside the walls of a hospital, said Vargas.

“With the help she received in the United States, my daughter has the opportunity to leave the hospital, see the world and live as a girl her age,” said Vargas in Spanish.

Her daughter was sitting nearby, smiling and playing with stickers, while wearing the black backpack that helps keep it alive.

The Los Angeles Children’s Hospital refused to comment on history,

Lawyers said they wrote to US government officials to ask it if they have made a mistake and filed a new humanitarian release request for the family.

Amato, who directs the lawyer for the Immigrants’ Rights Project of the Public Lawyer, said that they had not received a response and that the opinion indicated that the family could be expelled. She said she also contacted elected officials to get help.
