President Donald Trump’s administration is due to slow down the billions of federal money for public health services, a federal judge said on Friday.
American district judge Mary Mcelroy to Rhode Island granted the request for preliminary injunction in the trial brought by a state coalition led by the Democrats. She had granted a temporary ban order last month in the case.
The trial submitted on April 1 by April 23 and the Columbia district sought to immediately stop $ 11 billion in cuts, alleging that it would decimate public health infrastructure across the country. The money, awarded by the congress during the pandemic, supported COVVI-19 initiatives and mental health and drug addiction efforts.
The injunction only applies to states involved in the trial. The federal government must file documents according to which they comply with the order on Tuesday evening.
Health services across the country said they had dismissed employees after the Trump administration began to retreat money at the end of March.
