The Trump administration has linked migrants to large -part gangs based on clothes or tattoos, the papers show

The Trump administration has granted the power to summarily deport the Venezuelan migrants accused of being members of a violent street gang on the basis of a little more than if they have tattoos or worn clothes associated with the criminal organization, according to new legal documents.

The newspapers suggest that the administration has established a low bar for the search for migrants whom the officials described as belonging to the street gang, Tren de Aragua. This month, the White House ordered the expulsion of more than 100 people suspected of being gang members by virtue of a powerful status in wartime, the law on extraterrestrial enemies and refused them any regular procedure to challenge the allegations against them.

In court documents, subject during the weekend, lawyers for Venezuelan migrants have produced a government document, entitled “Ensurestre enemy validation guide”, which has set up a series of leaders in the administration of criteria is required to meet to designate men as members of Tren de Aragua.

The document has established a rating system to decide whether migrants were in fact gang members, which is often called ADD, saying that eight points were necessary for anyone to be identified as a member.

According to the document, any migrant who admitted to being a member of the gang was assigned to 10 points, which means that they were automatically deemed to belong to the group and were subject to immediate expulsion under the law on extraterrestrial enemies.

But the document also says that managers can assign four points to a migrant simply to have “tattoos indicating membership / loyalty to ADD” and four other points if the law enforcement agents decide that the person in question “displays insignia, logos, notations, drawings or a dress known to indicate an altéence to ADD”.
