The Trump administration confirms that car prices start on Thursday, car parts on May 3

Wednesday, the Washington Administration (Reuters) -US, the administration of President Donald Trump, confirmed that its world car and 25% truck prices will take effect as expected on Thursday and that the rights to the imports of automotive parts will be launched on May 3.

In a Federal Registration Opinion adding details to Trump’s automotive price proclamation published last week, the White House ordered the trade department to establish a process within 90 days to add more parts to the list, including at the request of national producers.

The 25% car rates should take effect at 12:01 p.m. on Thursday, with the 25% prices on automotive parts which should come into force at 12:01 HAE on May 3, according to the Federal Register.

The list of parts currently includes dozens of tariff codes, including engines, transmissions, powertrain and electrical components, as well as other parts such as brake pipes, but national producers will be able to request addition to the list, depending on the notice.

The opinion indicates that for vehicles which qualifying under the rules of origin of the American-Cano-Canne agreement, importers can pay the rights of 25% on the non-American content of the order.
