The Trump administration apologizes for telling Ukrainian refugees to leave us | US immigration

Donald Trump’s presidential administration recognized and apologized after declaring that he accidentally informed some Ukrainian refugees fleeing the invasion of their country by Russia that they had to leave the United States because their legal status was revoked.

About 240,000 Ukrainians were settled in the United States as part of the Uning for Ukraine – or U4U – program launched during the presidency of Joe Biden. But according to CBS News, some reinstalled Ukrainians received emails this week by telling them that the American Department of Internal Security would end their legal protections.

More than 20,000 Ukrainians flew to Mexico at the start of the war were also authorized in the United States, allowing DHS officials to offer temporary work permits and expulsion protections for migrants for humanitarian reasons.

“The DHS now exercises its discretion to put an end to your parole,” read the opinion dated April 3, referring to the temporary legal status (TPS) granted to the Ukrainians after Russia has invaded its neighboring state. “Unless it expires earlier, your parole will end 7 days from the date of this opinion.”

If the beneficiaries have not left the United States, the message warned, they “would be subject to potential laws for the application of the law which will lead to your withdrawal from the United States” and encourage recipients to register for self-disabled.

“Do not try to stay in the United States – the federal government will find you,” warned the opinion. “Please leave the United States immediately.”

But the DHS said on Friday in a statement at the point of sale that the opinion had been sent to some Ukrainians in the context of the U4U program. “The U4U parole program has not been terminated,” said the DHS declaration. And the missive had been corrected with a monitoring message which said: “No action will be taken with regard to your parole.”

Ukrainian nationals have not been taken in the cancellation of the Immigration programs from the Biden administration which include the Cubans, the Haitians, the Nicaraguies and the Venezuelans, and ordered them to relax on April 24. Nevertheless, the canceled opinion caused panic with the Ukrainians in the United States who largely feared that they could face the same cancellations affecting those of other nationalities.

On Friday, a federal judge gave the Trump administration until the end of Monday to return a man from Maryland who was inadvertently expelled under controversial use of the El Salvador El Salvador Act.

Judge Paula Xinis ruled that federal officials had acted without “legal basis” when they arrested Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a national Salvadoran legally living in Maryland and expelled it without regular procedure.

Administration officials said there was not much to do to bring Garcia back, despite the recognition that her expulsion last month had been a mistake. The Ministry of Justice said he intended to appeal the decision of Xinis.
