The first trailer for I know what you did last summer has a whole hook.
Sony published the online trailer on Tuesday after launching the images last month in Cinemacon. Hitting the rooms on July 18, the continuation of director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson revives the horror frankness which was launched with the original film of 1997 of the same name.
I know what you did last summer Stars Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Hauer-King and Chase Su Wonders, with Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. taking up their roles from the first feature film and her 1998 follow-up.
The new film focuses on a group of five friends faced with dangerous consequences after having made a pact to remain silent on their involvement in a tragic car accident. The consequences led them to connect with two survivors of the Southport massacre from 1997.
“This is not the first time that there has been violence like this in Southport,” said Prinze in the trailer.
In a later moment, Hewitt seems to have an intuition as to the reason why the residents are targeted. “I just have a question,” she said pointed. “What did you do last summer?”
Robinson directed the project from a scenario that she co-written with Sam Lansky after a first script of Leah McKendrick. Neal Moritz, who was the producer of the original film, is back for the new one.
The initial I know what you did last summer struck the rooms on October 17, 1997. The cast included Hewitt, Prinze, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe and focused on a group of friends hunted down by a villain with a hook after trying to cover it with their car. This film was written by Shout Scribe Kevin Williamson and based on the 1973 novel of the same name of the author Lois Duncan.
Brandy, who played in the first two films, said The Hollywood Reporter Last year, she had not yet heard of the new film team but would like to be involved.
“I need them to call me because I survived this film!” Said Brandy at the time. “I went out at the end, bloody, ready to leave.”
