The talkSPORT host eats a two-foot hot dog which will be sold at West Ham’s London Stadium this summer as baseball returns to the MLB London Series

Andy Goldstein took on the ‘Boomstick Challenge’ for talkSPORT as he gulped down a giant hot dog to celebrate baseball’s return to London.
There’s a month to go until America’s Pastime arrives in England’s capital as the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals face off in the second round MLB London this summer.

But it’s not just the domestic game they bring, it’s also their oversized menu, with a host of American classics available from the stands at London Stadium – and we mean oversized.
The main act of the lineup is the “boomstick” – a two-foot-long hot dog that weighs 3 pounds, will cost you 2,000 calories, and is recommended for serving FOUR people…or one very hungry or ambitious eater. .
We all love a challenge.
Far from your simple sausage in a bun, this baseball bat-sized pork monster is loaded with braised beef and chili, topped with jalapenos, nacho cheese and sour cream.

And it’s delicious.
Someone who knows this all too well is Drivetime host Goldstein, who was given the go-it-all challenge by fellow talkSPORT presenters Paul Hawksbee and Andy Jacobs.
He did a great job, too, but the last bite proved too much. Could you do better? Only one way to find out…
More than 120,000 fans are expected to fill London Stadium as West Ham’s ground undergoes a three-week transformation to become a 62,500-capacity baseball stadium.

The MLB London Series returns to the capital after a successful debut in 2019 as the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox brought their iconic rivalry to Europe for the first time.
Why the Cubs and Cardinals this time around? Known as the “Route 66 Rivalry”, they share a historic hatred that dates back over 130 years.
It’s one of baseball’s oldest and most bitter grudge games, between neighboring states Illinois and Missouri, and there’s no love lost between them. Expect things to heat up… whether or not you have jalapenos on your hot dog.
The Cubs are one of baseball’s iconic teams, with Wrigley Field being the second oldest baseball stadium in the game. [behind Fenway Park in Boston]while the Cardinals’ record of 11 World Series wins is only behind the Yankees…and they also have a mustachioed pitcher nicknamed “Lizard King” – because he once ate a lizard in the middle of a game.
Home runs, giant hot dogs, lizard-eating players – what a sport!
Their meeting this summer is three years behind schedule after the 2020 matches, like everything else, were postponed due to COVID-19.
Baseball is also back in 2024, with reports in the US claiming that the New York Mets – which boast one of MLB’s greatest hitters in Pete Alonso – and the Philadelphia Phillies will be the next clubs to cross the Channel.

The “boomstick” isn’t the only big draw for foodies wanting a taste of Americana at this year’s games — there’s also a two-foot serving of loaded nachos, city-inspired hot dogs, sweet mac and cheese and – get this – a DONUT BURGER, which has to be seen to be believed.
To wash down all that grub, they’re also installing TEN new bars in and around the London Stadium, including two on a platform in the East Stand so you can grab your beer. [other beverages are available].
And yes, you CAN drink it in the stands.
Not to mention the iconic baseball “hawkers” who will bring you hot dogs, popcorn and Cracker Jack [bags of candied popcorn and peanuts widely sold at baseball games] at your seat.
It’s a lazy sports fan’s dream and has everything needed for the perfect summer weekend of American sports.

Let’s play ball!
