The Supreme Court rejected on Monday a challenge to the restrictions of firearms recently originally in New York, avoiding a new case on the right to carry weapons.
The law, which the court previously refused to put on hold, was promulgated immediately after the judges extended the right to carry a firearm outside the house in June 2022.
The decision leaves a decision of October by the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeal, based in New York, which confirmed the key arrangements while hitting a little.
The prohibition of firearms hidden in “sensitive places”, such as health establishments, churches, parks, entertainment places and other places where people gather, remains in force. The same goes for a provision which obliges the owners of firearms to show a “good moral character” to obtain concealed transport licenses.
A prohibition of firearms hidden on a private property which is generally open to the public remains blocked, as is a provision which obliges people to request transport licenses hidden to provide information on their social media accounts.
The decision of the Supreme Court in 2022 led to a wave of new restrictions imposed in certain states and judicial decisions which have canceled certain laws on long -standing firearms. These two developments led to a wave of appeal to the court asking judges to clarify the scope of the 2022 decision.
The challenge was taken up by Ivan Antonyuk and five other people who say they would like to carry firearms outside the house.
New York legislators have adopted their law prohibiting firearms in many public places and stiffening license requirements a month after the Supreme Court has canceled a centenary provision in New York which required that the owners of firearms wish to carry hand weapons outside their homes to prove that they have unique legitimate defense needs.
The new law, called the law on improving the improvement of concealment, also obliges candidates to provide character references, contact details of family members and people with whom they live and information on their social media accounts.
In July, the Supreme Court bypassing several disputes related to firearms shortly after rendering a decision which confirmed a federal law which prohibits persons subject to ordinances of non-compliance with domestic violence from having firearms.
In a case that did not directly deal with the right to carry weapons, the court has confirmed last month an attempted Biden administration to regulate the “ghost pistol” kits which can be easily assembled to make firearms.
