On Wednesday, the United States Supreme Court reduced some of the Trump administration’s radical efforts to eliminate foreign aid authorized by the Congress.

In an order,, The judges have left an order of the lower court in place which has so far been forced that the Trump administration to pay the entrepreneurs for foreign aid work which have already been completed – approximately 2 billion dollars.

Judge Samuel Alito dissipated and was joined by judges Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.

It is unlikely that the action of the Court is its last word in this case, which started two weeks ago when two main foreign assistance entrepreneurs – the plea coalition on the AIDS vaccine and the Global Health Council – went to court to contest the Trump administration threshold to the American agency for international development (USAID) and the State Department. Federal judge Amir Ali,, Nominated by President Biden and confirmed on the bench in 2024, subsequently made a temporary ban order to allow the continuing funding for foreign aid while he examined the questions in the case.

Six days later, the coalition returned to justice to request an outrageous prescription for non-compliance with the administration. Judge Ali granted his request by applying his order but did not quote the government for contempt. Last Tuesday, with only days before the temporary prohibition order expires, the judge made a prescription specifying that the administration had to immediately pay for his foreign assistance bills for the services rendered before the temporary prohibition order.

This prompted Sarah Harris, the acting general request for the Trump administration, to ask the American Court of Appeal of the District of Columbia, to block the ordinance of judge Ali. But the Court of Appeal quickly refused to intervene, citing a lack or competence on temporary ban orders, which last a short time.

Until then, it was just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, and with the deadline for compliance. hours Far, the administration called on the chief judge John Roberts in his capacity of justice with supervision on the short circuit of DC. About an hour later, Roberts launched the box on the road, emitting what is called an “administrative stay” to allow more time for the memories to be deposited. While press reports have designed the action as a victory for Trump, the chief judge may have decided that he also needed a little more time and that the full court should deal with the issue. In addition, he knew that the judges met for their conference on Friday two days later, which means that they could sort things up.

Finally Tuesday, the court rendered its order, the seat of judge Ali. This means that at least for the moment, the government will have to honor at least part of its financial obligations. It is not clear if the court will ultimately force the government to spend all the money that the congress has affected.

Although the Court’s ordinance is only the first of what promises to be a series of long legal dramas, the argument in this case has summed up this: the Trump administration argued that the deadline for the ordinance of the lower court, giving a few days for the government to comply, was not possible. In addition, the brutal ordinance of February 25 had “threw what should be an ordered examination of the government in chaos” because it did not give the government enough time to discern what payment obligations are “legitimate”. The administration also suggested that the lower court had ventured outside the limits of its constitutional authority.

The plea coalition on the AIDS vaccine replied that the urgency of which the Trump administration complained was “an emergency of its own manufacture”. The coalition noted that the government was initially ordered to resume this funding two weeks ago, but took no action to comply with this order. It was only after the temporary prohibition order has almost followed his course that judge Ali issued his “minute prescription” of February 25 to force the government to comply. Finally, the coalition argued that the government was simply invited to return to the “status quo” by honoring its existing contracts.
