Ryan Coogler’s “sinners” are at a rate to perceive at least $ 330 million in world ticket sales for Warner Bros. At the end of his race, several analysts at the box office said, a transport that would put him at the Horror Hall of Fame in Hollywood.
Ticket sales at this level, for example, would be tied with those of “Get Out”, a winner of an Oscar by Jordan Peele, who collected $ 256 million worldwide in 2017, or $ 337 million when adjusted for inflation. Among the original horror films, “Sinners” would be the biggest since 2018, when “A Quiet Place”, directed by John Krasinski, took $ 440 million in today’s dollars.
Regarding horror starting films in franchise, “Sinners” would rank above than the original “Halloween” by John Carpenter, which generated $ 47 million in 1978, or $ 241 million adjusted. “Sinners” would comply with the first “cry” of Wes Craven ($ 358 million) and well above “SAW” by James Wan ($ 180 million) and “paranormal activity” by Oren Peli ($ 293 million).
Mr. Coogler did not conceive “Sinners”, a daring fantasia in the south of the vampires taking place in the 1930s, as part of a series. “I wanted the film to feel like a full meal: your aperitifs, your starters, your dishes and your desserts-I wanted all this there,” he told Ebony Magazine. “I wanted it to be a holistic and finished thing.”
But “sinners” could easily start one if Mr. Coogler changed his mind, giving him immense power in Hollywood in general and Warner Bros. especially.
“What impresses everyone is how the film connects and brings the public to repeat and widen the public,” said David A. Gross, a film consultant on Friday, published an information bulletin on box office numbers.
