The Pittsburgh steelers launched the news cycle on Wednesday with an early morning exchange bomb which sent the receiver Mercurial George Pickens to Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a third round choice in 2026 and a sixth round choice in 2027. Cowboys fans seemed very happy with the agreement; Pittsburgh fans, less.
What Pickens was a potential label was not a shock in itself, but the time of the move was an unexpected touch. With the project in retreat, the word in the street was that Pittsburgh would keep No. 14 for the moment, or probably at least until its contract is underway in 2026. But it seems that the front office has become impatient. And now Pickens is heading for Steel City to the Lone Star State.
A few hours after the news was announced, Pittsburgh’s secondary, Nick Herbig, went to his Instagram to say goodbye to Pickens, and he kept short, soft and encouraging things with a nice message of five words for his now expressed teammate: “See you soon at Da Top.”
Herbig shared the message on his History IG, where he accompanied it with three emojis (including a “Heartbreak”) plus a video modification.

Although Pickens can be a little … Difficult to manage, it was an excellent weapon for the attack of the Steelers during his three seasons with the team. Since 2022-2024, it has accumulated 2,841 reception yards in total on 174 catches, plus 12 receipt and one more on the ground.
In Dallas, he will join a receiver room led by Ceedee Lamb.
