The stars let loose at the Cartier Academy gala after-party

As the Academy Museum’s fifth annual gala, honoring Penélope Cruz, Walter Salles, Bowen Yang and Bruce Springsteen, wrapped up Saturday night at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles’ Sunset, the party was just beginning.

Ensuring stars get the most out of their red carpet outfits, Cartier took over the Bar Marmont at the legendary Château Marmont hotel for the inaugural after-party of the late-night gala. Inside, the already chic space had been entirely Cartier-ified for the occasion. Silver trays were laden with mini bottles of the house’s brut champagne and tables were adorned with ashtrays, napkins and matchbooks, all bearing the distinctive typography and scarlet red hue.

Actress Kaitlyn Dever was the first to arrive, joined shortly after by Maude Apatow and Archie Madekwe, who sat in a booth with Cartier ambassador Jacob Elordi. Across the room, Anna Kendrick took selfies in the mirrors, while Sebastian Stan and Annabelle Wallis sat at a table on the outdoor patio, still bustling after Springsteen’s performance.

As platters of potato chips topped with caviar, quail eggs and mini lobster rolls were passed around the room as Jenna Ortega, in a bold metallic bodice by Grace Ling, arrived arm in arm with Mikey Madison. Tyriq Withers and Chase Infiniti, who blended in perfectly with the crowd, were also part of the cohort representing young Hollywood. As for the OGs, dapper Jeff Goldblum and his wife Emilie Livingston reminisced about their decade-old marriage at the hotel, while soaking up the scene.

As the clock struck midnight, the party reached a fever pitch when Chaka Khan took the stage for a surprise performance. During a rendition of his anthems, young singers Rachel Zegler and Olivia Rodrigo owned the dance floor, while Tom Blyth and Louis Partridge played the role of the ultimate hype men.

If the gala celebrated Hollywood icons, the Cartier afterparty belonged to the next generation: glamorous, confident and perfectly comfortable in the spotlight.
