Eddie Hearn has teased that a “big, big fight” is on the horizon for Conor Benn next time around.
The 25-year-old welterweight contender is now 21-0 after stunning Chris van Heerden in his last fight.
Van Heerden’s victory was another decent keeper added to the young Briton’s record, although many saw it as a side step for him.
Since rising in class to beat Sebastian Formella in November 2020 and Samuel Vargas in April 2021, Benn’s progress has slowed somewhat.
He himself looked frustrated at times in his three most recent fights as he was taken at bay by Adrian Granados and then easily knocked out Chris Algieri and Van Heerden.
Following this latest victory, Benn called for much bigger fights.
He initially demanded to face either Amir Khan or Kell Brook, although both have now retired from boxing.
Hearn confirmed talks with former unified welterweight champion Jose Ramirez, who is reportedly considering upping his weight.
However, it looks like there’s now something even bigger in the works.
Hearn told Boxing Social: “I had a meeting with Conor yesterday.
“We are evaluating if you have a fight in July or if you just go into the biggest fight possible in August or September.
“There are three or four [names] that will make everyone’s mouth foam.
“We are negotiating with them right now.
“It’s likely he’ll go straight into a big next one. I’m talking big, big. Stabilizers are off.
