The spirit of Matthew Perry visits me often

Courteney Cox opened up about how his bond with her was late Friends co-star Matthew Perry continued after his death.

In a conversation for CBS Sunday MorningCox reflected on 2024 marking 30 years of the Friends first. She told Vigliotti that during the 10 years she was on the NBC sitcom, her co-stars were her “family” as they went through “everything” together.

Reflecting on Perry, Cox said, “I think he’s one of the funniest human beings in the world. He’s so funny. He really has a huge heart. (He) obviously had a hard time.

The actress later said she was “so grateful” to have “been able to work closely with him for so many years” and to have maintained a connection to her co-star’s spirit.

“He visits me often, if you believe it,” she shared. “I talk to my mother, my father, Matthew. I feel like there’s a lot of people who are…I think they’re guiding us. Cox added that she felt Perry’s spirit was “there, for sure.”

Perry died on October 28, 2023 at age 54 from the acute effects of the anesthetic ketamine. Weeks after his death, Cox wrote a tribute on social media, reflecting on his decades-long friendship with his former co-star.

“I’m so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day,” she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post.
