Snow is arriving in Hauts-de-France. The departments of Somme, Oise, Pas-de-Calais and Nord are placed on orange vigilance by Météo-France from 4 p.m. this Wednesday afternoon. Seine-Maritime is also on orange alert, from 2 p.m. At midday, the disturbance which hit the country on Tuesday will gradually move northwards. Upon contact with colder air to the north, precipitation will turn into snow, from Upper Normandy to Hauts-de-France.

Météo-France announces snow accumulations of 5 to 10 cm this Wednesday afternoon. According to the northern weather institute Medias-Weather, snow will reach Hauts-de-France around 2 p.m. this Wednesday. The Somme will be the most affected department. The snowy episode could also extend to the northern half of Aisne. Due to the uncertainty, an increase in vigilance could be issued for this department.

The precipitation should then weaken during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, even if “snowfall may occur again late Wednesday night through Thursday and early Thursday morning, but in more limited quantities, giving an additional 1 to 3 cm of snow“.
Thursday, the weather will remain cold, weak frosts are again planned for the night, which could make the slippery roads.
