De Beukelaer, who tried to restart coalition negotiations last month, is scathing. During every month following the elections, politicians did not even come in a speaking substance, he told Politico.
“It’s just a political posture that blocks Brussels,” he said. “You are my friend. You are not. I want to work with you. But not with you. It’s immature.
A passive capital
Too complicated political architecture confuses and frustrated even the Belgians themselves.

In terms (relatively) simply, Brussels is one of the three regions of Belgium, as well as French -speaking Wallonia in the southern Dutch and Flanders to the north, by which the city is surrounded. The three regions have their own governments with responsibilities for questions such as housing, transport and economic policy.
With the grappling of Belgium to meet reductions in obligatory EU spending, Brussels debt is a “responsibility for the whole country,” said Dave Sinardet, professor of political science at the Brussels Free University.
Things could get worse. The region’s credit rating could be demoted by summer, which would make it more expensive to borrow, adding more to the debt of the region, warned the Minister of Budget of goalkeeper Sven Gatz.
