The sequel to “Road House” in preparation with the return of Jake Gyllenhaal

Amazon MGM Studios announced during its Upfronts event in New York that a Relay the sequel is in the works with Jake Gyllenhaal reprising his role as Dalton. Plot details are being kept under wraps for the future.

The studio also announced that Relay has attracted nearly 80 million viewers worldwide to date. The film premiered on Prime Video on March 21 and attracted a record 50 million-plus viewers worldwide in its first two weekends, becoming the first film produced by Amazon MGM Studios the most watched of all time worldwide.

It is unclear at this time whether other elements are involved, including director Doug Liman as well as one of Gyllenhaal’s partners. The rebooted pic of Patrick Swayze’s classic ’80s action film follows Dalton (Gyllenhaal), a former UFC fighter who comes to clean a bar in the Florida Keys.
