The sentenced killer is appointed suspect in the rapper’s stab prison

An inmate who has cut the artist Hip-Hop Tory Lanez inside an American prison is a sentenced killer, say prison officials.

The Canadian rapper was transported urgently to the hospital after being stabbed 14 times Monday morning in a housing unit at the Californian Correctional Establishment of Tehachapi.

The prisoner suspected of the attack, Santino Casio, 41, is serving a perpetuity imprisonment for murder, officials at the BBC told BBC. They said he had been placed in “restricted housing” while waiting for an investigation into Lanez’s attack, 32.

The rapper, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, purges a sentence of 10 years in prison for having shot another musician Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

Casio arrived at the Tehachapi institution of Los Angeles County prison in February 2004.

“He was sentenced to perpetuity with the possibility of parole for a second degree murder, an attempted murder in the first degree, a personal use of a dangerous or fatal weapon, and inflicts a large bodily injury,” said a statement from California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).

Casio added to his criminal record when he incarceration, added the press release.

In January 2008, he was sentenced to six years for assaulting a prisoner colleague with a deadly weapon.

In 2018, he was sentenced to two years to have a fatal weapon.

Casio’s alleged attack left Tory Lanez with injuries through his body, causing the collapse of his two lungs, according to an article on the rapper’s Instagram account.

He was stabbed in the back, chest, head and face, and had to be temporarily placed on a respiratory apparatus, added the Instagram post.

“Despite the pain, he speaks normally, in good humor, and deeply grateful to God that he passes through,” said the post.

Lanez was sentenced in 2023 for three accusations related to criminal firearms, including assault with a semi-automatic firearm.

He shot the stallion of Megan Tye, whose legal name is Megan Pete, when they left a party at the swimming pool in the Hollywood manor of the star of reality Kylie Jenner.

Lanez had seven top 10 of the United States in the seven years preceding its conviction. He teased the release of a new prison album entitled Peterson.
