A security guard forced an 11 -year -old girl to close her mouth in a Pasadena college because she was talking too noisy and laughed during a lunch break, according to the girl’s father.
The Unified School District of Pasadena dismissed the security officer after the school officials took note of the incident and the girl’s family submitted a police report.
“The security and well-being of our students are our top priority,” the district said in a press release. “Although we cannot comment on the current disputes, we take concerns such as this very seriously and fully cooperating with the Pasadena police service. We are committed to maintaining a safe and united environment for our students. ”
Noemi Hurtado said she was eating with her friends at the Blair Intermediary School on Wednesday when the security woman had told her to stop being so strong. The security officer punished the daughter for being noisy and having turned with his friends during a break between the lessons, said the daughter’s father, Ricardo Hurtado, told Times.
Ricardo Hurtado, before, with community activist Najee Ali, held a press conference on the incident involving her daughter outside Blair Middle School in Pasadena.

His daughter is in sixth year and “did things that normal children do at this age,” he said.
The security officer, which the district did not identify, forced the girl to close her mouth, said Hurtado. The media KTLA reported that the director confirmed that the incident had occurred. The security officer then returned to his class, according to Hurtado. In class, the security officer said to the teacher not to remove the band from her mouth because she continued to be too disruptive, said Hurtado. It was at this time that the school’s security chief intervened and took the student to the director’s office.
Hurtado said that the chief security officer told his daughter that she had no problem.
Hurtado’s daughter has since returned to school, he said. The family submitted a police report against the security officer on Thursday, according to Hurtado.
The Pasadena police service confirmed that a police report had been filed, but referred all questions about the case to the unified school district of Pasadena.
