London (AP) – A second suspect was arrested on Saturday for criminal fire as part of a series of fires targeting property related to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, police said.
A 26 -year -old man was arrested at Luton airport suspected of conspiracy to commit a criminal fire with the intention of endangering life, police said.
The arrest occurred the day after a Ukrainian appeared before the court to set fire to the personal house of Starmer, as well as a property where he used to live and a car he had sold. Police did not provide the nationality of the second suspect.
No injury was reported in fires, which occurred over three nights in northern London between May 8 and May 12.
Roman Lavrynovych, 21, did not plead Friday before the Westminster magistrates court to three criminal fire chiefs with the intention of endangering life.
Lavrynovych denied having defined the fires and, at this stage, there is no explanation for the crimes, said a prosecutor.
Starmer and his family had left his home after being elected in July, and they live at the official residence of Prime Minister Downing Street.
A Toyota Rav4 that Starmer had formerly was burnt down on May 8 – just below the street of his house. On Sunday, a building where the politician used to live was burnt down. On Monday, the door of Starmer’s house was charred after being set on fire.
Detectives to combat terrorism conducted the Prime Minister. The accusations were authorized by the Crown Prosecution Service counter-terrorism division, which is responsible for offenses in state threats, among other crimes.
Starmer and the leaders of the House of Commons have sentenced fires earlier this week. Starmer called them “an attack on all of us, against democracy and the values we defend”.
