SEATTLE – The Drew Lock quarter aid should sign with the Seahawks for a second passage with the team, a source confirmed on Friday.
Lock is expected to sign a $ 5 million contract over two years, a source said to Adam Schefter in ESPN.
Lock, 28, returns to Seattle after spending last season with the New York Giants. He spent the two seasons before that in Seattle by supporting Geno Smith after being acquired from Denver Broncos in the Russell Wilson trade in 2022.
Lock’s return as a potential backup of Sam Darnold Newly Acquired calls into question the future of Sam Howell with the Seahawks. Seattle acquired Howell via the Washington Commanders Trade in March 2024 after losing locking in free agency. Howell had trouble during the offseason and in a disastrous appearance in December in December.
The Seahawks have also made their homework on the quarter prospects in this year’s project. Their list of 30 visits includes one with Tyler Shough from Louisville, a source told ESPN, while Bleacher Report reported that they also had a visit aligned with Jalen Milroe de l’Alabama. The two quarters are in the top five in the position on the large board of Mel Kiper Jr.
Lock went 1-4 in five starts with the Giants last season, launching six affected and five interceptions. He also rushed to a pair of affected when the team won only once during his eight appearances.
The inconsistency of the situation in New York played in some of the difficulties. Lock was declared the safeguard of Daniel Jones when he signed. He was backup all summer and during the first 10 games of the season. But when the giants have fallen and finally cut Jones, they jumped Lock and went to Tommy Devito of the third stem in the hope of a spark.
The team jumped back and forth between Lock and Devito for much of the rest of their 3-14 season. The highest point was the victory of the week 16 of the lock against the Indianapolis colts, when he knew five affected in total.
Lock passed his first three seasons with the Broncos after drafting it in the second round in 2019. He started 28 games during his six professional seasons and completed 59.6% of his passes for 6,354 yards with 34 affected and 28 interceptions.
Fox Sports reported on the Seahawks meeting with Lock.
