The rumors swirl on American Airlines Premium Reboot: file screens, more leg space and a major jet order
American Airlines has an upcoming announcement. It seems to be new details of a flexible product, perhaps linked to The launch of the new American Boeing 787-9 June 5.
And it seems to be a good time to talk about all the swirling premium rumors in American Airlines at the moment. We know that changes in soft products are coming, but it seems that much more is on the horizon too.
American Airlines has new business class suites and a new premium economy. They opened what looks like their best business classroom in Philadelphia. They add free Wi-Fi over years in the coming years, and they bring small changes as it does not require noise cancellation helmets an hour before landing.
I was first reported on the airline high -end pivot back in January.
- American is a high -cost airline and must win a income bonus to succeed
- But they spent years pursuing carriers at low cost
- These low -cost carriers have also been less successful, because the passengers were willing to pay more for better experience, especially after the cash register.
There are several changes in the airline under discussion. Some of them will get no doubt of final panels. But that is not just the conclusion of products, such as the new business suites and the new Philadelphia Lounge, which has been developing for five years or more. There are fairly significant changes and inversions.
I will not say that this happens definitively, but I heard them from American Airlines sources, including sources that were right on other things. However I am not Placing the chances that any specific material materializes.
- USB-C New delivery planes will obtain USB-C ports in economics.
- No more dowry on board agents on large American Staffs has narrow Legal Bordeaux and reduced staff to their long-haul flights to Widebody. The union had an ox on this subject, but lost its grievances and has not negotiated higher endowment levels in its new contract. However, it was a question of improving the service on board and adding an additional on-board agent to Boeing 787-9 and Boeing 777 (but not 787-8 which have a small commercial class cabin).
- New flight entertainment interface. The plan would be a new user interface next year which works more quickly and adapts the home page to passenger preferences.
- File entertainment screens. It was a question before the pandemic to reverse the decision of the 2017 era to drop the seat entertainment screens, but that did not end up arriving. It was before United was lying on screens, matching Delta and JetBlue. The American was left to the idea that everyone can just look at content on his phone.
Some planes would see a modernization, perhaps either when they get added first class seats (Airbus A319, A320), or for major maintenance checks. New seats could even see better padding.
- More additional main cabin for sale. The American has fewer coach seats of additional legs than competitors. They piled up in seats to sell more seats at low prices, but need to compete for superior and elite passengers. This would mean removing a few rows of seats to offer more additional seats.
- Large body aircraft control There was Talk about a new order of aircraft in Widebody for a while. They must make a decision on their old Boeing 777-200 fleet. I expected them to keep these planes, but I do not have the idea of the relative cost of the Coches D and the cabin renovations for them compared to the current offers that Boeing could be willing to offer a 787-10.
Airlines talk to cell manufacturers all the time, even when they are not going to press the trigger on a new plane order. So I don’t know if talking about 787-10 is “the plan” against “creation options”. I expected an extension of life for the Boeing 777-200 rather than an expensive plane order, but Boeing can be very motivated.
I certainly hope that the American is watching the configuration of their seat and presss the trigger on the additional seats of the main cabin. Looking at flights per month, I often cannot get the main cabin seats that are not central seats. These rumors, taken together, would all represent very beautiful investments for a more premium airline and would greatly help inspire a new life in the carrier.
