Washington (AP) – A Court of Appeal ruled on Friday that President Donald Trump can dismiss two members of the board of directors of independent agencies keeping the labor problems of their respective posts in the federal government.
A panel divided to three judges from the American Court of Appeal for the Columbia district circuit agreed to remove the orders preventing the Trump administration from removing the member of the Merit Cathy Harris Meris Systems Protection Board and the Member of the National Council for Relations with Relations with Gwynne Wilcox.
On March 4, the American district judge Rudolph Courseras ruled that Trump had illegally tried to dismiss Harris. Two days later, the American district judge Beryl Howell ruled that Trump did not have the power to withdraw Wilcox.
The Ministry of Justice asked the Court of Appeal to suspend these orders while they appealed decisions.
President Joe Biden appointed Harris to the Merit Systems Board in 2021 and appointed Wilcox to a second five -year term as a member of the NLRB in 2023.
