The Rock’s WrestleMania return sees WWE icon train in ‘Iron Paradise’ gym where he wees in water bottles during six-hour sessions

“If you smell… what the Rock is peeing” wouldn’t be a phrase out of place at Dwayne Johnson’s home gym these past few months.

The WWE icon, who has a reputation as the hardest-working person in sports entertainment, has doubled down on his efforts.

The Great One, who remains wrestling’s most successful export, returned this year to the company where he made his name.

The 51-year-old will headline night one of WrestleMania alongside undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins.

This will be The Rock’s first event where he will have to endure shocks since his program with John Cena until the 28th and 29th of WrestleMania.

The latter match saw Rocky suffer several serious injuries, including a torn abductor that required emergency hernia surgery.

In his efforts to avoid further trouble this weekend, the Hollywood megastar has been hard at work on his “Iron Paradise.”

The portable gym is made up of 45,000 pounds of equipment that is usually assembled at each location by his film crew, but now forms the basis of his training camps.

Speaking on ‘The Pat McAfee Show,’ he said: “In the world of professional wrestling, I haven’t done that in a very long time. So when I go back in the ring at WrestleMania, the more important is the training camp, which I have already started.

“I have several rings set up in Hawaii, I have one ring set up on the West Coast and we are full at camp.”

He added: “I was very lucky in my career in the sense that I was sort of a ring general and I knew the ring and where to go and where to be at certain times. But the camp part of training is difficult.

“You can work on the weights, whatever you want to do, but until you get back in the ring and you take those drops, those slams, those suplexes, stuff like that, there’s nothing like.”

Regardless of his specific workout activity, The Rock has previously confirmed that his routine involves getting up at 3:30 a.m.

In 2017, he told Variety: “I often sacrifice two hours of sleep just so I can have the two hours of quiet I need before the whole house wakes up, including the animals.” »

His strength work and resistance training — usually in preparation for a movie — typically lasts three to four hours and sometimes up to six hours a day, along with an hour of cardio.

But as the man himself admitted, lacing up your wrestling boots requires a different kind of preparation.

Speaking to E! News, Rock admitted: “The type of training with professional wrestling – unlike stunts, bodybuilding – requires a respect for the sport.

“I have to prepare the right way. I don’t want to get my ass kicked too much.”

However, one part of his training, whether for wrestling or acting, will remain the same: his penchant for peeing in water bottles.

The Rock revealed years ago that the lack of toilets at his gym meant he would use empty bottles rather than risk disrupting the flow of a workout.

“I usually stay pretty hydrated,” he told Esquire in 2021.

“I often need to go to the toilet. Not many, but probably several times during a workout I have to go to the bathroom. So I take out the bottle.

Expanding on his unique method, he said: “I pee in my water bottles, but let me put that in context.

“This is not a water bottle that I bought just for the water that you wash and clean when you’re done using it.

“They’re just bottles that I don’t use anymore and usually the gyms I train in don’t have a bathroom because it’s iron heaven. It’s just hot, sweaty and dirty.
