WWE never officially promoted him for the historic debut on Netflix in Los Angeles this week, but The Rock spoiled his own return on Instagram in the days leading up to the big show. It took all of a few minutes before his music was hitting the loud speakers and the Intuit Dome had its roof blown off.
Character alignment be damned.
He took his sweet time getting to the getting too, what with the flexibility afforded by the new platform partnership. No need to rush anything anymore, folks, they’re letting it breathe.
Rocky was in full babyface mode at the start, thanking the fans for making this night special, thanking Netflix executives for the new partnership, and even thanking Cody Rhodes for carrying WWE as a great champion over the past year. Then he gave a shout to Roman Reigns, calling him the Original Tribal Chief and promising he’ll be watching Tribal Combat.
He said he loved the fans and “let’s get this show on the road.”
This was the TKO Board member Rock hyping the company, storylines be damned. He even went and gave the WWE Champion a hug on his way out.
Of course, the night isn’t over just yet…
