Humanoid robots run, fight and fall into a world event in humanoid robots that happens in China.

The Olympic style competition offers more than 500 robots from 16 different countries in-head in sports such as race, football and kickboxing. The event also offers more niche competitions, including sorting and handling materials for cleaning services, Reuters reported.

An opening ceremony officially launched the matches in Beijing Thursday, August 14, featuring dancing robots and playing musical instruments alongside human operators and companions. Robot athletes will now participate until the end of the matches on Sunday (August 17).

Faced with an aging population and rigorous American technological competition, China invests billions of dollars in robotics. The games bear witness to the progress that engineers made on the field. However, spectators have also seen their fair share of robots move awkwardly and fall.

Human biology is very complicated, so building machines that can work like us – and even less running and playing sports – is difficult. For example, in Robot Soccer, the participants did not transmit themselves with a Messi type precision, but rather entered the ball to kill it forward, sometimes stumbling on top of each other and having to be dragged out of the field.

Robots are also slower than humans. The fastest robot to have ever sank 1,500 meters, for example, ended in 6 minutes and 34 seconds, which is almost twice as long as the human record, which is at 3 minutes and 26 seconds, according to France 24.

We have already seen humanoid robots compete in sporting events. For example, in June, China welcomed what was presented as the world First Humanoid Robot Comb ContestWho has seen kickboxing robots awkwardly hit seven bells from each other. Robots lovers could also be familiar with Robots playing football And robots run half-marathons.

The new robot games bring together all these sports and many others for the first time. They also offer engineers the opportunity to test their latest technologies.

“You can test a lot of interesting new and exciting approaches in this competition,” MTWK Robots football team told Reuters Max Polter. “If we try something and it doesn’t work, we lose the game. It’s sad but it’s better than investing a lot of money in a product that failed.”
