Friday, large parts of the Midwest and the Mid-Atlantic are at a significant risk of violent time, while a storm system of several days moves slowly to the east. An eye of bull centered in south-eastern Missouri, southern Illinois and Indiana and the center and west of Kentucky have highlighted a risk area for some of the most serious thunderstorms.
These storms will be able to release a large hail, damaged winds and tornadoes, perhaps strong winds.
“I would be surprised if we had not seen tornadoes in this corridor,” said Aaron Gleason, meteorologist of the Storm Prediction Center.
Here are the key elements to know:
At the beginning of the afternoon, an area of the East coast which includes the south of New Jersey, Philadelphia and Delaware had been under a rolling series of sudden floods and tornado warnings.
Thunderstorms are likely to occur in parts of the Middle Mississippi valley and the Ohio valley on Friday.
The thunderstorm potential will be the highest in the afternoon and the evening, the storms that should persist during the night.
For those who spend their normal day, the thunderstorms “will be difficult to see”, warned the Storm Prediction Center, urging people to settle in multiple ways of being informed of serious weather warnings.
Friday, the threat of thunderstorms generally extends from eastern Texas in the Middle Atlantic and the Northeast and focuses on the Mississippi valley in the middle and the Ohio valley with various risk degrees.
“It is an area wide enough for serious potential, and it seems that all dangers could be possible,” said Gleason.
The northeast had a taste of bad weather early during the day.
Friday afternoon, in the middle of the Atlantic and the Northeast, thunderstorms crossed an area which includes southern New Jersey, northern Delaware, northern Maryland and south-eastern Pennsylvania. The area was placed under a serious thunderstorm watch with storms capable of deliver a hail as large as limes and winds up to 70 miles per hour. Flash-Flood warnings have been issued in several areas, including Philadelphia and Trenton, NJ, and some tornado warnings were in force in the south of New Jersey.
