In one of the biggest upheavals of the Open Swiss 2025, the Sankar Subramanian of India Muthusamy won the most remarkable victory of his senior career, beating the world No. 2 Anders Antonsen in the pre -quarts of the Super 300 tournament on Thursday, March 20. The 21-year-old came from behind to claim an exciting victory of 18-21, 21-12, 21-5 in a 57-minute battle.
Sankar showed his courage against the Danish shuttle experienced during his round 16 games in Basel. Antonsen, triple medalist of the world championships, started hard, going up a late return to the opening match to get ahead of the Indian 21-18. Who is Sankar Subramanian?
Sankar Subramanian Muthusamy is an emerging Indian badminton player from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He made a name for himself on the junior circuit before going to the senior level. At the age of 17, he reached the final of the Senior Ugandan international tournament 2021. Former world junior n ° 1, Sankar took importance with a silver medal at the BWF 2022 world championships which wanted to Santander Spanish.

Sankar falls in the quarterfinals
Despite his remarkable triumph over Antonsen, the Swiss trip to Sankar Subramanian ended in the quarter -final against Christo Popov in France. The Indian shuttle has struggled to reproduce its previous form, falling 10-21, 14-21 in consecutive matches on the world No. 31.
This marks the second appearance in the quarter -final of Sankar at a super 300 event this year, after reaching the last eight in Thailand Masters in January. He lost against Zhu Xuan Chen in China in the quarter-final by 21-19, 18-21, 13-21.
