The Department of Environmental Management of Rhode Island has announced the presence of the H5N1 strain of avian flu in a non -commercial farm in the south of the county of Washington.
The staff of Dem Euhanized a herd of around 40 birds with humanity to prevent the spread of the disease.
The officials said that no H5N1 person was disseminated in the United States.
The Rhode Island had no human case of H5N1.
The state veterinarian Scott Marshall says that the virus often spreads by wild ducks and geese.
“While H5N1’s public health risk remains low, Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) has been coordinating closely with Dem for months on preparation measures and communicates regularly with the professional health community,” said the Director of Health Jerry Larkin, Maryland. “Certain basic prevention measures, such as avoiding contact with sick and dead animals, can help people stay healthy and safe.”
Managers urge residents working with or have an exhibition to birds, poultry or cows to wear personal protective equipment.
The Rhode Island previously reported an H5N1 infection in a herd of non-commercial backyard in 2022.
