The GDPR is considered one of the most complex laws in Europe by the technology sector – and by companies far beyond technology – for the way IT forces companies that do business in Europe to manage their data and to process the demands and rights of data subjects to these personal data. Its introduction in 2018 attracted a flood of desperate emails from companies asking for the consent of people to use their data.
Seven years later, Brussels takes out the scissors to give his (in) celebrates the law on privacy.
There are “many good things about the GDPR, (and) confidentiality is completely necessary. But we do not need to regulate in a stupid way. We must facilitate companies and businesses to comply,” said Danish Danish Minister Caroline Stage Olsen, journalists last week. Denmark will chair work on the EU council in the second half of 2025 as part of its presidency in rotation.
RGPD’s criticism echoes the views of former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, who published a historical economic report last September warning that the complex laws of Europe prevented its economy from catching up with the United States and China. “EU’s regulatory position towards technological companies hinders innovation,” said Draghi, distinguishing the law on artificial intelligence and the GDPR.
For small businesses short of money, the documentation trains that the GDPR asks companies to produce has long been reproach. Justice Commissioner Michael McGrath said that the main use of RGPD examination last summer “is the need for greater support (for) businesses, in particular SMEs, in their compliance efforts.”
McGrath confirmed last week that a proposal to simplify the GDPR is due in the “weeks to come”. The Commission had planned to agree on a so -called simplification for small and medium -sized enterprises on April 16, according to the Committee Journal, but this date has since been in the 21st.
