Personal passengers have exploited police, border forces and “fragmented” intelligence agencies to pass thousands of illegal migrants in the United Kingdom, the Prime Minister said.
Sir Keir Starmer said that the poor organization had indicated that the United Kingdom was “a gentle touch” on illegal migration, which smugglers took as “open invitation”.
The Prime Minister pleaded to combat illegal migration like terrorism when he spoke during the very first summit of immigration crime organized in London – which have attended more than 40 countries alongside technology giants like Meta, X and Tiktok.
The Conservatives said that the conference “will make no difference” and that only Rwanda style deportations would cease illegal migration.
Sir Keir wants the United Kingdom to be considered the leader of the global response to illegal migration-a key question for the politically government, conservatives and the United Kingdom reform accusing the work of not having taken the grip on the issue.
Since he won the elections in 2024, Sir Keir has prompted to treat illegal migration as terrorism, with increased cooperation to the other and improved police powers.
The government has announced a series of agreements with other countries in order to combat the number of illegal migrants entering the United Kingdom.
But more than 6,000 people have crossed the chain so far in 2025, making it a one -year record for arrivals of small boats.
Sir Keir said that joint cross -border criminal investigations involving the British authorities “began to bear fruit.”
Since July, the government has said that more than 24,000 people without the right to be in the United Kingdom had been expelled.
Launching a two -day summit in Lancaster House, the Prime Minister said he was “angry” in the magnitude of illegal migration.
“It makes me angry, frankly, because it is unfair for ordinary workers who pay the price-from the cost of hotels, to our public services who struggle under pressure,” he said.
The illegal migration was also “a massive engine of world insecurity” which “undermines our ability to control that comes here,” said Sir Keir.
“And it is unfair for the illegal migrants themselves, because they are vulnerable people who are ruthlessly exploited by vile gangs.”
Managers of Vietnam, Albania and Iraq – countries from which many migrants went to the United Kingdom – attended the Lancaster house in London, alongside French, Chinese and American representatives.
Representatives of Meta, X and Tiktok social media companies have also joined, alongside Kurdish leaders and Interpol to participate in discussions on how to disrupt a criminal trade of a value estimated at $ 10 billion (7.7 billion pounds sterling) per year.
Sir Keir told participants: “There have never been a greater gathering of people on this issue, building a truly international effort to defeat the organized immigration crime.”
The work campaigned on a promise to remove the plan from the previous government to send migrants to Rwanda.
Sir Keir blamed the conservatives on Monday to have pursued the program, while the smugglers slipped through the meshes of the Services net.
“We have inherited this total fragmentation between our police services, our border strength and our intelligence agencies,” said Sir Keir.
“A fragmentation that made him clear, when I looked at him, that there were gaps in our defense, an invitation open to our borders so that the smugglers of the people are being made.
“To be honest, it should have been fixed years ago.”
The conservative secretary of the Shadow House, Chris Philp, said that Sir Keir’s immigration plans “are already in tatters”.
He said: “We are about to see 30,000 illegal channels level crossings since the elections reached this week, an increase of 31%.
“This year, so far, has been the worst ever recorded.”
The peak in level passages was “a direct consequence of the government canceling the deterrence of Rwanda before even starting,” said Philp.
“Today’s conference will not make any difference,” he added.
“The police alone cannot stop illegal immigration – you need a means of deterrence.”
Before the summit, the Interior Ministry announced that 33 million pounds sterling would be spent to disrupt counterpart networks and stimulate proceedings.

Alex Burghart Alex Burghart, on Sunday, said the BBC Laura Kuensberg program Alex Burghart that work should never have abandoned the Rwanda expulsion plan.
Earlier, Cooper told the show that new checks on unauthorized work would help reduce illegal migration levels.
