A research and rescue team extracted a woman from the rainy sewers near the border of San Diego-Poway on Monday after a hunt for a missing person led the researchers in the place, fire officials said.
Poway Fire Crews received a call from the San Diego police shortly before at noon asked for their help, said Poway firefighters Chuy Ramirez.
Ramirez said the police were looking for a woman who had been missing last week, and their research took them to a place by a rain drain near Beeler Canyon Road, south of Scripps Poway Parkway.
Near the pipe entrance, detectives found personal effects and heard what looked like a moaning woman from inside the rainfall, said Ramirez. This has encouraged them to call the Poway fire service to help.
Chuy said detectives ventured at around 100 feet in the drain but could not find the woman. Ramirez said that the San Diego Fire-Rescue Urban Research and Urban Rescue team had been called to search the rain sewers.
Fire spokesperson Jose Ysea said the crews were to enter a man hole at the top of the drain to reach and recover the woman from the closely confined area.
We do not know how long she was in the drain of the storm and her condition was unknown. No other information was immediately available.
