The report indicates that “no laws has been breaking” after the death of Horse in San Diego Rodeo

An investigation into the death of a pregnant horse at the Rodeo de San Diego in Petco Park earlier this year revealed that there was no criminal responsibility or negligence on the part of the organizers of the event or its hosts, the Padres de San Diego.

The horse’s death marks the second incident of animal injury in the two years of the rodeo. Last year, another horse was injured after he crashed into a half-competition wall.

The agents of the application of the law of the San Diego Humane Society investigated the death of the horse, who was eight months pregnant at the time of his death, and proceeded to a necropsy.

While animal defenders say that events are forms of cruelty to animals, investigators said in a statement on Thursday that the organizers acted legally and that the use of pregnant horses in rodeos is “a standard practice in the rodeo industry”.

“Although the law does not currently prohibit the rodeos, this is a policy of politics that requires attention,” said managers of the Humane Society. “No laws have been breaking, but a horse is dead.”

At the time of the incident, the operators of the event of the San Diego Rodeo Alliance qualified the death of the 16 -year -old horse an “unpredictable medical event”, but defended the record of the animal protection.

“We highlight the conclusions of the San Diego Humane Society that the death of the horse was accidental and unforeseen. The loss is extremely unhappy and we remain dedicated to the following protocols designed to protect the well-being of all participating animals, “said Jeff Pugsley, spokesperson for the Alliance on Thursday.

During the night of January 11, the officers of the Humane Society and the veterinarians received a horse call in a Bronc saddle competition – in which the runners earn points to stay on a horse that tries to reject them – had a medical problem.

Although the horse had no visible sign of injury, 15 minutes after the competition, the horse became trembling, said investigators from human society. The horse collapsed and died before the veterinarians arrived.

A post mortem examination of the animal determined that the horse was in its third trimester of pregnancy and died of a broken uterine artery, according to the investigators. The foal is also dead. The duration of horsepower pregnancies varies depending on the breed but on average from 11 to 12 months, according to researchers from Colorado State University.

The forensic doctors were unable to determine whether the uterus rupture occurred before or after the event, officials said.

“It is certainly possible that participation in the Rodeo caused the break, but we cannot say with certainty, and the injury could have occurred anyway,” said humanitarian society in the report.

Despite the conclusions of the Humane Society, the defenders of local animals underlined the death of the horse as the most recent example of rodeos intrinsically harmful to animals.

During the inaugural year of the rodeo, a horse was injured during the rodeo after he crashed in a fence, officials said.

While animal defenders said that the horse may have died shortly after the incident, the Humane Society investigators, who also investigated this incident, could not confirm what came from the animal after it was judged healthy to be brought back to its owner.

“The city of San Diego has only welcomed two rodeos, and the two have resulted in catastrophic damage,” said Amit Dhuleshia, spokesperson for the strategic action of animal defense for animals. “How many animals must suffer or die before measures are taken?”

In an attempt to prevent the County of San Diego from welcoming future rodeos, a trial was filed two years ago by advocacy groups the protective and rescue league of animals and showing the respect and kindness of animals.

Bryan Pease, president of the Loma -based animal and life -based rescue league, which has deposited the civil prosecution, underlined the BUCKING strap, a piece of equipment closely rolled around a horse to make it foggy more wildly, like the probable cause of the death of the pregnant horse.

Humane Society investigators said pregnant horses are often used in section competitions because heat horses are “less targeted” and less likely to withdraw aggressively.

However, managers of human society said that he was not common for horses so far in their pregnancy to participate in the rodeos. The investigators went to the owner of the horse owner and the police determined that neither the rodeo nor the owner were aware of the distance that was in his pregnancy.

“We cannot definitively prove whether the horse’s participation in the rodeo has directly contributed to his death or that anyone knows that she was more pregnant than the eight months supposed to be according to the horse’s farming calendar,” said officials of the Humane Society. “The horse appeared very well maintained and planned, and his death seems to have been accidental and unforeseen.”

Pease said that the trial that his organization had filed was currently in the discovery process, and he will add the death of the last horse to the process of discovery of evidence.

Officials from the Humane Society have said that although they only see any laws have been breaking into one or other Rodeo incidents, they remain opposed to the rodeos. They recently launched a petition asking the city officials to take action to prevent future rodeos from performing in the city of San Diego.

Managers of the San Diego Rodeo Alliance said that no other animal involved in the three -day event needed medical treatment.
