The reaction of Americans at Trump prices goes from concern to

The announcement by President Trump of universal and supposedly reciprocal prices on countries around the world led to a quick reprimand on Wednesday of business groups, commercial experts, democratic legislators and many economists who have warned that they would increase the prices of American consumers and slow economic growth.

“It is catastrophic for American families,” said Matt Priest, president and chief executive officer for America’s shoe distributors and retailers. “We hoped that the president would adopt a more targeted approach, but these general prices would only browse costs, reduce product quality and weaken consumer confidence.”

Other reactions have been more deaf and certain positives, saying that the decision was expected for a long time.

“Today, it is undoubtedly the greatest action of commercial and economic policy in the history of the country, and this absolutely cements the heritage of President Trump that he tries to interrupt a new golden age of economic production and prosperity,” said Nick IacoVella, executive vice-president of the coalition for a prosperous America, a group that supports prices. He said prices would help “largely reindustrialize the United States and create working class jobs”.

Trump insisted on Wednesday that experts were wrong with his prices and that anxiety about them was now moved. But those who will be forced to pay the prices quickly raised concerns about the decision, which will increase import taxes on the products of some of the largest American trade partners, including China, the European Union, Japan and India.

The National Federation of Retail said in a statement that prices “would equal more anxiety and uncertainty for American companies and consumers”. The prices are not paid by foreign countries or suppliers, but by American importers, they said. They also added that “the immediate implementation of these prices is a massive company and requires both notice and substantial preparation by the millions of American companies which will be directly affected.”

The National Association of Manufacturers said it still analyzed the exact details and implications of the President’s prices. But the president of the group, Jay Timmons, said in a statement that the high costs of the new prices threatened “investment, jobs, supply chains and, in turn, America’s ability to overcome other nations and direct pre -eminent manufacturing superpower.”
