A rapper from the Bay region was shot dead after refusing to return his watch during an armed robbery Thursday in an East Hollywood recording studio, police and sources said.
Stacey Gilton, who recalls under the name of “Lil Yee”, underwent two ball wounds in the chest when an attacker interrupted the interpreter’s registration session and demanded his watch, according to a LAPD source which requested anonymity in order to discuss an open case.
Gilton was taken to a hospital in the region for surgery and his condition was critical but stable, said the source.
A LAPD spokesperson, the Drake Madison officer, said the police had been reported and was directed to the shooting site just after 10 p.m. Thursday in Melrose Avenue block 4500. They found the victim, 32, injured by a suspect who had “shot the victim for several rounds in a qualified flight attempt,” Madison said in a statement.
The police obtained a brief description of the suspect – a black man in mid -vings – who fled the premises in a vehicle in an unknown direction. No arrest had been announced early Friday afternoon during the shooting, which, according to the police, was motivated by any gang rivalry.
The police would investigate the possibility that the flight was an installation orchestrated by another rapper.
Gilton is from the Fillmore district of San Francisco, proudly praising its roots in an interview in 2022 on the website of the influential music journalist Jeff Weiss. According to the interview, he did the self-publication of the single “War” in 2016; It has accumulated nearly 5 million flows on Spotify.
Gilton attributed the song to have given him “a platform. This gave me a fans’ base ”which connected to the words of the fight with sorrow and mental health.
