The Rangers announced that they had placed Corey Seager On the list of 10 days injured with a tension with the right ischi-legs. Selected Texas Nick Ahmed On the list in its place. They appointed the left -hander Walter Pennington for the award to open a place of 40 men.
Seager stopped as he left a bullet on the ground during yesterday’s victory in Sacramento. He immediately failed the match. Josh SmithWho had started in the central field, came to play the stop stop. Leody Taveras Drew in the central field of the bench. Any type of stump of hamstrings generally leads to placement in Il, but the rangers seem optimistic that they have avoided the worst. Kennedi Landry of MLB.com notes that Seager is expected in about 10 days.
The quintuple All-Star began 20 of the 23 games at the Cop stop. Smith started twice Jonathan Ornelas makes an appearance. Seager joined Smith and Wyatt Langford As the most productive strikers in a range otherwise in difficulty. It strikes .286 / .345 / .468 with four circuits thanks to 84 plaques appearances.
Smith began his first major league in the central field last night. He could go back regularly to the inner field while Seager came out. This would reject the Taveras in the work of the central field of daily life. The switching voltiseur started at a start .197 / .210 / .246 and has not yet struck a home run through 62 plaques appearances. If the Rangers want to keep Smith in the center, they would turn to the veteran Ahmed as a starting point.
It will be the 12th big league season for Ahmed, a double winner of Gold Glove who spent the majority of his career with the Diamondbacks. Arizona released him late in the 23 campaign. He divided last season between the Giants, the Dodgers and the Padres and combined for a striking line .229 / .267 / .295 through 228 plaques appearances. The 35 -year -old man has signed a minor off -season league contract with Texas. He had a big spring, hitting .324 with a trio of circuits on 15 games.
It was not enough to break the camp. Ahmed obtained his release before the opening day, but returned to the organization on a new minor league contract last week. He had worked in their Arizona complex rather than playing Triple-A. Aside from spring training numbers, the Rangers do not expect Ahmed offensively. There should be a plus on defense. Statcast awarded him nine withdrawals higher than average out of 554 1/3 sleeves last season.
Alignment mix the eliminations of Pennington, which made 15 relief appearances for Texas last year. The 27 -year -old made his big league debut with the Royals last July. Kansas City returned it to Texas to Michael Lorenzen on the deadline. Pennington carried an MPM of 2.26 through 37 triple-A appearances at the time. He worked 17 1/3 rounds of the LEVEUR ENCLOS DUXAS after trade. Although he only granted deserved points, he issued 11 goals on balls against 16 stick withdrawals.
Pennington made four appearances this spring, granting three points at eight strokes with two steps and withdrawals to the stick each. Texas initially optionized it to Triple-A, but reassured it on the complex before the opening day. There was no indication of an injury, but Pennington did not appear in regular season with minors.
Texas will have five days to exchange Pennington or place it in derogations. Assuming that he has not undergone any undisclosed injury, they could try to purely reduced it to minors. (Wounded players cannot be exceeded, so they are almost always released after a DFA.) The strong numbers from last year in Triple-A could draw attention to the waiver. Pennington stayed two years of minor league option.
