The Rangers rarely make announcements concerning contract extensions for managers or staff members. It’s close to never.
So, the announcement of the end of Wednesday of the CEO of Garden, Jim Dolan of the “multi -year” extension of Chris Drury, as president and managing director, can certainly be interpreted as a firm message to the players as to which is in charge following meetings and speech on Monday.
It also sends a message that the hierarchy recognizes that the reconstruction of the rangers in cutting is not necessarily a rapid scenario. There has been instability behind the bench with each of the last two coaches who last only two seasons, but the DRURY extension creates stability at the front office.

“During his mandate, Chris showed his passion for the Rangers, the incessant work ethics and a tireless pursuit of excellence,” Dolan said in a statement. “Although we are all disappointed with what happened last season, I am confident in its ability to guide this organization towards success.”
Drury, entering his fifth year of work after having succeeded John Davidson as president and Jeff Gorton as director of the last days of the 2020-2010 season, conducts a search for coaches after his first two hits, Gerard Gallant and Peter Laviolette, both were the subject of a second year after the success of the first season which led the club to the conference in 2022 and 2024.

The GM presided over the presidents’ trophy winning the 2023-24 season before the collapse of this season of the playoffs with a drop from 114 points to 85 in a season shaken by controversy.
But while some believed – or hoped, or both – that calamity would cost your work, a declaration and a message was delivered on Wednesday.
