England rejoice after a historic victory for the Lionesses at Wembley Stadium.
Sarina Wiegman’s side captured the hearts of all fans with their run through the European Championship, culminating in their 2-1 victory over Germany in the final.
Ella Toone’s second-half goal put the Lionesses ahead, before Lina Magull equalized for Germany after 79 minutes.
As nerves mounted across the country, England remained calm as substitute Chloe Kelly pushed home from close range in extra time before walking away in celebration.
Securing England’s first trophy since 1966, Prince William was on hand to present the winners’ medals to the players, before his grandmother, the Queen, shared her congratulations on social media.
She said: “My warmest congratulations, and those of my family, go to all of you for winning the European Women’s Football Championships. This is a significant achievement for the whole team, including your support staff.
“The championships and your performance in them have rightly won praise. However, your success goes far beyond the trophy you so deserved.
“You have all set an example that will inspire girls and women today and for generations to come. I hope you will be as proud of the impact you have had on your sport as you are of today’s result.
