California republican legislators have remained despised after a handful of them were suddenly launched pivot legislative committees by the president of the Democratic Assembly, Robert Rivas.
The chief of the assembly minority, James Gallagher (City of R-Yuba), suggested that the decision could be “reprisals” against the Republicans to oppose funding for “Trump test” and for criticizing the management of democrats of questions, in particular insurance, forest fires, energy and cost of life.
“This is the new move of the niche where if the democratic leadership is angry with you, they bring this kind of changes,” said Gallagher.
Gallagher said he had a “good conversation” with Rivas after the announcement, but received few explanations for the reshuffle. He said that some of the Jabs republican legislators have also explained on social networks “can rub some people in the wrong direction.”
As a speaker, Rivas has the power to appoint and remove members from the committees at any time, and last week, more than a dozen committee changes affected the Republicans and Democrats. Committee’s reallocations are commonplace in the legislative assembly, and policy can infiltrate. Democrats have a legislative supermajarity, giving Republicans little political power.
“The speaker regularly meets the needs of the committee throughout the year, and his objective is always to ensure that members are in an optimal role to collaborate effectively and deliver for Californians,” said Nick Miller, director of communications at Rivas.
Among the kidnapped people were the assemblies Carl Demaio (R-San Diego) and Alexandra Macdeo (R-Tulare), who were mentioned from the Assembly’s Budget Committee, and Joe Patterson (R-Rocklin), who lost his post as vice-president of the Assembly’s health committee. Three Democrats have also lost seats on the committee. Each committee always has a republican vice-president.
Demaio, which was frank on the social media platform X, where it has a substantial suite, said that Democratic leadership warned it of “reappearing it” after a controversial budgetary hearing which he strongly published where he criticized the spending plan of Governor Gavin Newsom. Demaio has also described the COVVI-19 budget awareness program as “SO 2020”.
The other deleted republicans included members of assemblies Bill Essayli (R-Corona) and David J. Tangipa (R-Fresno). While some Republicans have been removed from their positions, they were also appointed to new committees.
Macedo questioned the speaker’s motive behind deleting it as a member of the Budget Committee. It was also replaced by another Republican as vice-president of the government organization commission. In addition to the dismissal, Macedo was appointed to replace Essayli as vice-president of the Elections Committee.
“I worked hard to educate myself on the problems. … I don’t think the crime corresponds to punishment, “she said.
Patterson expressed his surprise on Monday against the reshuffle, which he learned during his stay at the gymnasium. “As a civil servant elected in the minority party, you should expect to talk about what is wrong with majority actions,” he said.
