Since the Pop Star of Pop Katy Perry returned to Earth earlier this week, the number of memes referring to her brief trip to space has skyrocketed.
After weighing with jokes, the American fast food channel Wendy’s said that its now viral tweets were not supposed to cause an offense.
Following the criticisms of the subscribers, the company published a statement this week saying that it had no bad will for Perry.
“We always bring a little spices to our social, but Wendy has a ton of respect for Katy Perry and her exterior of this world,” said.
The fully feminine star crew on the Blue Origin rocket by Jeff Bezos took off in Texas on Monday and stole for 11 minutes in total. Perry was joined by five other women, including Gayle King journalist and Jeff Bezos’ partner Lauren Sanchez.
But the reactions of the singer “Fireworks” captivated the internet more than the others. After landing, she kissed the ground, saying that she felt “so connected to love”.
King revealed that Perry had sang “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong in space.
The memes and comments began to flood social media platforms, including the Wendy’s messages series on her official X account when she landed: “When we said that women in STEM did not mean” and “can we send it back”.
While the space flight was intended to celebrate women, the crew faced criticism. The counterpouis varied from the environmental impact of the flight to imminent reductions for real NASA employees.
Other celebrities also offered their two hundred.
“I think it’s a bit gluttonous,” said actress Olivia Munn in an appearance on today. “Spatial exploration had to deepen our knowledge and help humanity. What will they make up there that will help us here?”
The model and activist Emily Ratajkowski declared on Tiktok that the flight was “beyond the parody”.
“Look at the state of the world and reflect on the number of resources that resources have devoted these women in space,” she said. “For what?”
But not all reactions were negative. The reality star Khloe Kardashian, watching from the observation platform, said: “Everything you dream of is our reach, especially day and age of today.”
Oprah Winfrey, a close friend of King, also looked at the launch. She was seen tearing off while the job landed.
“I have never been as proud of my friend as today,” she said.
King away some of the negative comments, saying that she believes that the flight has inspired young women who want to be astronauts.
“I think anyone criticism does not really understand what is going on here,” she said.
