The singer, writer and actress Marianne Faithfull died, confirmed her spokesperson at CNN on Thursday.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of the singer, composer and actress Marianne Faithfull. Marianne died peacefully in London today, with her loving family. We will miss a lot, ”said the press release.
Faithfull was known for her 1960s hits, including “As As Tears Got”, which was written by Keith Richards and Mick Jagger of Rolling Stones, of which she is also famous.
She was discovered during a party in London by the manager of the Rolling Stones, Andrew Loog Oldham, in 1964 and was only 16 years old when “As Tears came out”, according to his biography on his official website.
She has been doing music for over 50 years and has also been an actress in the film Motorcycle girl which was released in 1968 as well as Hamlet in 1969 and others.
But in the late 1960s, she fell into a deep battle against drug addiction that will last for years, according to her biography, before setting up a series of creative returns over the following decades.
In 2020, it was announced that the star of Bohemian Rhapsody Lucy Boynton would play Faithfull in a biopic on his life. At the time, Faithfull said that it was “delighted that my story was finally made with my dream team”.
In 2021, Faithfull wrote an album during COVVI-19 LOCKDOWN, a period in which she also fought with severe infection COVID-19.
Faithfull thought about his extraordinary and turbulent life in a memory published in 1994.
“Never apologize, never explain – have we not always said that?” Well, I did not do it and I do not do it, ”she wrote to the readers of the book, entitled Faithful.
According to Reuters, Faithfull was 78 years old.
