A Japanese toyo Japanese plane in Texas had to do an emergency landing after a passenger tried to open one of its doors during the flight.
All Nippon Airways (Ana) Flight 114 was diverted to Seattle a few hours after taking off on Saturday “due to an unruly passenger,” said the airline.
Port of Seattle police told the media that they had been informed of a man who “had tried to open exit doors during the flight”.
The man, who was not identified, had “a medical crisis” and had to be retained by other passengers and driving crew, the police said.
He was then taken to the hospital. It is not clear if it faces costs.
“The security of our passengers and our crew is our absolute priority and we applaud the efforts of the local police for their support,” said Ana in a statement.
While the plane was waiting for the Tarmac of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, a second person was withdrawn from the flight for “unruly behavior,” the authorities said.
The flight data shows that the plane reached its destination, George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Saturday around 12:40 p.m. local time (5:40 p.m. GMT) – Four hours after the scheduled arrival time.
This is the last of a series of similar incidents.
In April, a jetstar flight from Bali, Indonesia, was forced to turn around during his trip to Melbourne, Australia, after a passenger also tried to open a plane door in the air.
Last November, a man who tried to open the door of the plane during an American Airlines flight was retained and attached by his passenger colleagues with adhesive tape.
And in November 2023, nine passengers of an Asiana Airlines flight were sent to the hospital with breathing difficulties after a man successfully opened the air exit of the plane before landing at a South Korean airport.
