One week after the dismissal of the director of the dismissal Derek Shelton, the pirates announced new modifications to the coach staff. Pittsburgh brings back the former manager Gene Lamont to the organization to serve as a special advisor to the newly tabuated manager, Don Kelly. Triple-A manager, Chris Truby, is also promoted to the staff of the Great League and will also hold the generic title of “the coach of the major league”.
Truby, 51, appeared in parts of four seasons of major leagues as an inner field player. From 2000 to 2003, he adapted to Astros, Expos, Tigers and Devil Rays, playing in 263 Grande League competitions. He played in parts of 15 campaigns of minor leagues and ended his player career with the pirates in a separation of the 2007 season between their double-a and triple-a levels. He started his coach career shortly after, playing a minor league role in the pirate system. He has since managed several affiliates of the minor league with the Phillies but returned to the pirates in 2022. Coordinator of minor field and deputy director of the coach and the development of the players Shawn Bowman will intervene as a new Triple-A skipper in place of Truby.
Lamont, aged 78, spent eight years as manager of the major league and a few decades with the staff of coaches in the Grande League. He led the White Sox from 1992 to 1995 and the pirates from 1997 to 2000. He was a third -based coach in major leagues and was also a bench coach for Jim Leyland and Brad Ausmus in Detroit. With eight years of MLB management experience – including managers’ honors of the year in 1993 – and a 23 -year -old coach career in addition to this, he will bring more than three decades of experience in the Pirogue to help Kelly acclimatize his new role.
Beyond new additions. The coach of the third base, Mike Rabelo, “will expand his role on the bench” and contribute to game planning and the strategy at stake. It seems that he takes up at least part of the tasks held by the game planning coach now Radley Haddad, who was dismissed at the same time as Shelton.
