‘The perfect match’ – Bearman and new Komatsu team boss on 19-year-old’s multi-year deal with Haas

Bearman is an incredibly likeable person, who lights up a room the moment he walks in and opens his mouth. He has fitted in very quickly at Haas, which has always been a team with a tight-knit family feel (it was one of the key attributes that attracted Kevin Magnussen to the team and brought out the best in him in 2017). Every time he has worked with the team, he has created a buzz.

“For this team to improve, the driver is a key element,” Komatsu added. “He has a natural personality that is very motivating and positive. It’s great because it’s hard work. We have 24 races and three races to go, so it can be tiring.”

“Having someone like him, a bubbly guy, a really positive guy, it lifts the morale of the whole team. If the driver is leading in that way, it helps the team raise its level of play.”

Bearman: “I found a perfect new family in Haas”

It had long been speculated that Bearman would make his Formula 1 debut next season – but it was only after last weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix, just days before the news was made official, that he found out for sure that the Haas drive was his.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Bearman told F1.com. “In F1, nothing is confirmed until the document is signed, and that was actually Wednesday morning. It’s been a crazy few months. I’m really happy to have it official and published.”
