The passenger tried twice to open the emergency exit of the plane, the police said

A man accused of trying to open two emergency outings during a flight was responsible for endangering the safety of an airplane.

The plane was flying from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Saturday when Australian Federal Police was called to meet her upon her arrival in Sydney.

A 46 -year -old Jordan man is said to have tried to open the rear exit door of the plane, AFP said.

The staff of airlines then moved him to a seat in the middle of the plane – before he also tried to open the emergency exit there.

The crew and the passengers retained the man, and one of the staff members would have been attacked during the agitation, according to AFP.

It was not clear how far in the eight -hour flight the incident occurred. AFP did not name the airline on which the event took place, but the Australian media reported that this had happened on an Air Asia flight.

Air Asia did not immediately respond to a request for comments from Business Insider.

The man appeared on Sunday before the court, accused of two charges of endangering the security of an airplane and an assault chief on the crew of a division-three plane.

Each accusation leads to a maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment.

During the appearance of the court, he was denied the surety and will appear again in court on Wednesday, Australian national disseminator reported.

The man’s lawyer told court that he had taken sleeping pills and consumed alcohol before boarding and had no memory of the incident, ABC reported.

“The actions of this man could have had tragic consequences, and the passengers and the planes staff should not have to have an unruly, violent or dangerous behavior on theft,” said Davina Copelin, the superintendent of the AFP detective.

“AFP will not hesitate to take measures against people who engage in criminal behavior in planes, especially when this behavior has the potential to endanger passenger safety, crew or theft itself.”

While someone looking for an emergency exit is scary, it is indeed impossible to open an environment halfway.

The planes are under pressure at an altitude of 8,000 feet or less – so that the cabin pressure is much higher than the exterior, producing enormous forces that keep the doors closed.

The passengers who try to open the doors of the plan are rare but not unknown. In February, an Iberia passenger was accused of having attacked a on -board agent and opening an emergency exit before jumping on the taxi track while a flight was preparing to take off.

After a passenger of Asiana Airlines opened a door while the plane arrived to land in 2023, four South Korean airlines signed up for a program that prioritizes outing seats for uniform staff, including soldiers and air workers.
